Series 2 Card swap chain – following Kayla’s card

Handmade card with a brick embossed background and a pot with a plant in it

Welcome to the second in a series of blog hops for our Card Swap Chain.

A group of Australian Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators formed a group to create cards and swap them in a process like a chain letter (although I’ve called it Chinese Whispers cards). The first card in each sequence is an original idea. For this blog hop, Kayla created her card and posted it to the next in the list. Then that person CASEd (Copy And Selectively Edit) it and mailed her card to the next person on the list. This person then cased her card … and so on!

This has been a lot of fun and a great challenge for me to CASE the cards I was sent. You can see the first card from this chain, created by Kayla, by clicking on the first link in the list below, and follow its progression through to the end. Mine was the third in the chain.

This is the card I was sent from Cheryl:-

I have used different images from the same bundle, Country Flowers, that Cheryl has used. I used the Exposed Brick embossing folder for my background, using a brayer to add colour to the folder before I ran it through my Cut and Emboss Machine. This technique gives the embossing an extra little boost.

I used my Blends to colour the plant and the pot. Don’t you love the way you can make the pot look shaded by adding extra layers of colour with your Blends?

For the inside, I used a blending brush to add colour to the right hand corner, then adhered a flower from the Country Birdhouse bundle.

Now it’s time to hop along to see what Monique has done with her CASE of my card.
Don’t forget to leave a comment – we love to hear from you.

  1. Simple but so effective. You can see exactly where the inspiration came from but it’s so different in style. Great card.
