Series 5 of our Chain card swap – following Genna’s card

If you haven’t seen our chain card swap blog hops before, Tracy Held decided to organise a group of Australian Stampin’ Up! demonstrators for a fun card swap idea. Each member in the group creates an original card, then sends it on to the next person on their list. They then have to CASE (Copy And Selectively Edit) this card, then send it on. The sending lists are random, so you are not sending to the same person each time. Once the card has been to everyone, it goes back to the designer – who may not even recognise it as their own design!

Once the round is completely finished, we blog about the cards, with each blog hop following one of the cards from the original design to what was sent back to the designer.  This is the fifth series we have completed – I love the challenge of making each design my own!

For our eighth blog hop for this series, we are following Genna’s card. I was the second in this round. To see the progression of each card, I suggest you start at the top of the list of links below my post (if you haven’t already).

To recreate this card, you will need to use masking paper to stamp the penguin images. Stamp the image, from the Choose Happy stamp set, several times using Memento Black ink, onto a piece of masking paper. Carefully fussy cut along the outer edge of each of your images. On a piece of Basic White (9.5 x 6.0cm), stamp the first penguin image near the centre. Then place one of your masking pieces over this and stamp the penguin image again, on both sides. You can vary the masking pieces to make penguins appear behind or in front.

Once you have stamped your images across the entire front of the card, colour the beaks and feet with Pumpkin Pie.

Next, tear along the bottom of the white card stock to give it a rough edge.

Hold the stamped mat into place on a 10.0 x 14.4cm piece of Balmy Blue card stock to see how far down you need to stamp your sentiment. Stamp the words ‘choose adventure’ from the Choose Happy stamp set then emboss this piece using the Soft Waves embossing folder. Adhere this embossed piece to the front of a 21.0 x 14.9cm card base of Secret Sea, folded in half.

Adhere the stamped mat into place at the top of the mat. Tear along the long edge of a piece of Basic White 10.0 x for the bottom mat, making sure it is narrow enough for the sentiment to show.

Use a black journaling pen to draw the lines around the edges of the white mat pieces.

For the inside, use the masks to stamp three penguin images at the bottom right corner of a 10.0 x 14.4 Basic White mat. Colour the beaks and feet using Pumpkin Pie. Use the black journaling pen to create the line around the edge of the mat. Adhere into place.
