Chain Card Swap Series Five – following Monique’s card

If you haven’t seen our chain card swap blogs before, Tracy Held decided to organise a group of Australian Stampin’ Up! demonstrators for a fun card swap idea. Each member in the group creates an original card, then sends it on to the next person on their list. They then have to CASE (Copy And Selectively Edit) this card, then send it on. The sending lists are random, so you are not sending to the same person each time. Once the card has been to everyone, it goes back to the designer – who may not even recognise it as their own design! Once the round is completely finished, we can blog about the cards, with each blog hop following one of the cards from the original design to what was sent back to the designer.  This is the fifth series we have completed – I love the challenge of making each design my own!

For our second blog hop for this series, we are following Monique’s card. I was the eighth in this round – to see the progression of each card, I suggest you start at the top of the list of links below my post (if you haven’t already).

The papers used for this card are from the Lovely Blossoms Designer Series Paper (DSP) pack. Old Olive cardstock was used for the card base.

For the DSP, I cut 2 pieces of the floral design at 6.5 x 6.5cm, and 2 pieces of the diamond design at 2.5 x 6.5cm. These were then adhered to a white mat, leaving an equal gap on all sides.

For the focal piece, I used Stylish Shapes dies to cut both Old Olive and Basic White card stock, then trimmed away the stitched line on the Basic White piece. The leaves were cut from Old Olive, using a die from the Fragrant Layers die set. I stamped the flower (from the Fragrant Layers stamp set) using Memento Black, then die cut using the corresponding die. I then used a dauber to add some Petal Pink ink to the centre of the flower. The leaves were adhered to the white mat, while Dimensionals were used to attach the flower.

The sentiment “Hello” was stamped in Mossy Meadow onto Petal Pink card stock, then die cut using a banner die from the Stylish Shapes dies. I then slipped the end under my focal piece, adhering it flat.

For the inside, I used a mat of Petal Pink cardstock under a mat of Basic White, and cut another flower and leaves (same as for the front), this time adhering them both flat.
