Thank you for joining me for my first blog hop with a new group – the Fun/Fancy Folds team. I love making fun and fancy fold cards and most of my classes usually involve teaching these, so I was very happy to be invited to join this team.
This is one of the cards that my class participants will be making this month. I’m teaching three different layouts of the same type of card – portrait, landscape and square cards. They all fold flat, perfect for posting.
My favourite colour lately has been Petunia Pop, and I also love bees (my younger daughter’s name, Melissa, means “honey bee”). I was so pleased when Stampin” Up! released a second bee stamp set and new bee papers – the Cute as can Bee Designer Series Paper pack – featuring Petunia Pop!
I’ve actually used a combination of the two stamp bundles to make my bee. I used the larger bee stripes (from Meant to Bee stamp set) to stamp with Memento Black on Daffodil Delight cardstock. I then used the older bee punch, released with the Bee my Valentine stamp set, to cut it out, which doesn’t leave a gap around the edge. The punch was also used for the wings as I prefer them whole, but I used the die from the Meant to Bee set for the antennae.
I’ve used two different papers from the new paper pack – a floral one for the scenery behind the bee, and a bee and hearts one for the top and bottom strips. The sentiment and floral images are from the Spring Corners stamp set and was die cut using dies from the Nested Essentials die set.
This card was a little tricky to create until I got the measurements worked out. I always convert from imperial to metric once I find a card I like, so it was a matter of getting the scores in the right places – and the correct lengths (yes, there were a few in the bin before I got it right).
I couldn’t leave the back totally blank so stamped the floral image from the Spring Corners stamp set in Daffodil Delight at the bottom right.
Make sure to hop around to see what the rest of the team have done this month.
Happy crafting!
