Creating a Christmas project from non-Christmas products

Welcome to the Stamping Green. This month’s Let’s Craft Together Blog Hop had the prompt “Use a non-Christmas product and make a Christmas project”, set by Tracy.  After looking through my stash, this caused me a little bit of stress as I struggled to decide what I could possibly do for this challenge. Then I realised I had just received a new bundle from the just released Online Exclusives, called Swirled Designs that I could use.

I cut the large oval swirl from Pecan Pie card stock, then the single stars from Real Red, Gold foil and silver foil. I made sure to use the Adhesive Sheeting behind my cardstock when die cutting these pieces as they are very delicate. I also die cut leaves using a die from the Layers of Beauty dies from Shaded Spruce card stock.  The Basic White mat was embossed using the new Beautiful Pattern Embossing Folder for texture.

The large oval swirl die cut was adhered to the embossed white mat, then the Shaded Spruce leaves were arranged over this. Then the stars were attached, keeping the order the same all the way around. A dark Real Red blend was used to colour the white twine before tying it into a bow and adhering with a Mini Glue dot (apologies for the quality of my photography – my light box is not behaving itself).

I used a sentiment from another non-Christmas stamp set, Cutest Onesie, which I stamped using Real Red ink. This was die cut using a banner die from my favourite dies, Stylish Shapes. I then cut another one the same size from Real Red card stock, cut it in half and adhered this behind my sentiment banner. I adhered this using mini Dimensionals.

I used one star outline of each of the colours to adhere to the top right corner to tie it in.

Happy crafting

  1. Stunning! Once die cut the sticking in place would have been a fun step, watching it build up!
